Berks Jazz Fest – Gershwin Comes Alive!

Berks Sinfonietta, Berks County’s own chamber orchestra, invites you to its debut at the 35th Annual Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest! The orchestra will perform a program of all George Gershwin music:
- An American in Paris, George Gershwin (1898-1937), reduced orchestration by Iain Farrington (b. 1977)
- Funny Face Suite, George Gershwin
- Lullaby, George Gershwin
- Lady, Be Good, George Gershwin
- Rhapsody in Blue (1926 Edition), George Gershwin, Lars Potteiger, Piano
The Berks High School All-Star Jazz Band will open up the concert.

About the Soloist
Jazz pianist Lars Potteiger is known for his ability to engage an audience and take command of a room. His playing was recently described by George W. Harris of Jazz Today as “always imaginative, adventurous and fully integrated into the music without a wasted note or a flash of virtuosity for its own sake.”
Potteiger maintains an active schedule as a jazz performer. His discography includes several Grammy nominated recordings as well as a myriad of singer collaborations, composition and arranging records, and a solo album. He has performed with vocalist Carolyn Leonhart (Steely Dan), Grammy Award winning tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, jazz bassist François Moutin, National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master Phil Woods, Sunnyside Records flutist Jamie Baum, MC Frontalot, Frank London of the Klezmatics and Hasidic New Wave, saxophonist Denis DiBlasio, trombonist John Fedchock, vocalist Robin Work, Grammy Award winning saxophonist/composer Bob Belden, vocalist G.C. Cameron (The Spinners and The Temptations), vocalist Glenn Leonard (The Temptations), and steelpan player Othello Molineux.
Potteiger currently serves as Director of Music Ministries at Church of the Apostles UCC in Lancaster, PA.
